Employee Handbook

Health Screenings
All employees, swimmers, and observers will be required to complete a health screening form before entering the facility at which they are scheduled to teach that day, and have their temperature taken upon entry at the Village East Swim Club. This information will be used to complete contact tracing protocols as necessary, or to cancel lessons due to illness.

Rescues and CPR
In the case that a patron requires an aquatic rescue, the lifeguard who responds must remove their face mask before entering the water, position the patron with their face directed away from the lifeguard’s face during the rescue, and use a BVM should the rescue require respirations.

Other information regarding recommendations for lifeguards in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak can be found at this Red Cross website.

Personal Hygiene
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 during lessons and while performing other duties at any Holistic swim facility, please follow these guidelines provided by OSHA:

  • Frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • If soap and running water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

The use of the Village East Swim Club showers is prohibited at this time by all clients, employees, and other patrons. Employees who need to leave work promptly to shower at home will be free to do so. No meetings will be scheduled directly after lessons for this reason.

Cleaning Responsibilities
To protect all clients and employees, Holistic Swim Co. will be using EPA-approved products or cleaning chemicals that have label claims against the coronavirus, and all cleaning performed will be logged between lessons using a form provided on site. Holistic employees who had not before been required to participate in routine cleaning of common surfaces (doorknobs, handrails, etc.) and equipment (toys, kickboards, noodles), may be asked to help in performing these tasks. Employees will be provided appropriate PPE for their safety while doing so, including gloves and face masks.

Distancing Responsibilities
During lessons, all instructors are responsible for maintaining a safe social distance between their students.

Employees will also be expected to encourage all clients, other employees, and facility patrons to keep a safe distance of six feet apart, especially in congested or tight spaces.

PPE Requirements
All Holistic Swim Co. employees are required to wear face coverings over their nose and mouth for the duration of their time within any facility at which Holistic Swim lessons are being performed. While swimming, cloth face coverings are considered to be a drowning hazard, and face shields are required in their place. All appropriate PPE will be provided to employees by Holistic Swim Co. at no charge, and face shields to be reused will be disinfected at the end of each work day.

Testing and Positive Cases
If an employee has COVID-19 symptoms AND EITHER tests positive for COVID-19 OR did not receive a test, the employee may only return to work after completing a 14-day self-quarantine.

Employees who have had close contact with a confirmed or suspected person with COVID-19 but are not experiencing any symptoms should inform Holistic Swim Co. immediately.

If an employee or client is confirmed positive and has attended while infected:

  • Group lessons and any private lessons involving that employee will shut down for 14 days.

  • Holistic Swim Co. will trace all contacts in the workplace and notify the health department of all workers and visitors who entered the site dating back to 48 hours before the worker began experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or tested positive, whichever is earlier.

  • Holistic Swim Co. will also notify the building’s cleaning company so that the facility can be properly disinfected.

  • All individuals who were in attendance on the same day as that individual will be contacted and notified. Any incidents of potential COVID-19 exposure will be reported immediately to state and local health departments.

  • If an employee tests negative, they can return to work.

If a client or employee has any symptoms and has not attended while symptomatic or positive, classes will continue, but that individual cannot return to Holistic Swim Co. for 14 days.

Requirements for Clients

  • On-deck observers will be limited to one adult caregiver per swimmer as necessary. (Small children in their care may accompany if needed, provided that all individuals ages 2+ wear a face covering over their nose and mouth at all times.)

  • Swimmers must wear masks while in the facility until the time of their swim lesson and once they are dry and dressed after their lesson has ended.

  • Swimmers and observers will be required to complete a health screening form before entering the facility, and have their temperature taken upon entry.
